John D. Blunck died at his home in this village on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 1910, aged 75 years, 3 months and 13 days. Mr. Blunck was born April 27 1835 in Bastedt, Holstein, Germany. In 1856 he was united in marriage with Katherine Jahnsen, who preceded him into the great beyond about a year ago. In 1882 he came to America, settling first at Adair, Iowa, and in 1888 he came to this village with his family, where he followed the vocation as tailor until age and general debility incapacitated him from work. He was invariably a good neighbor and an honest man. He leaves four children: John F. Blunck, Withee, Wis., Mr. C. Thormahlen, Huntley, Mont., Melwina Wilson and Mrs. L. F. Herzberg of Thorp. The funeral took place here on Friday last, Rev. B. M. Schrein officiating.
