Barton, Anton & Mary "Owens-Benware (Biography & Photos)
John Benoir (Note spelling is "Benoir", but should have been Benware) of the oldest employees at the Beaver mine, was instantly killed this morning, by the bursting of a belt. It is supposed he was thrown among the machinery and probably never knew what hit him. He leaves a wife and family. Dr. Smellie, after hearing the particulars, did not think a coroner's inquest necessary.
Family Notes: John Benware/Benoir died in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. He had married Mary Owens on 18 August 1883 and had two children: Ernest and Leo Benware. After John's death, his sister Josephine also died in 1893. Her widower, Anton Barton then married his former sister-in-law, Mary Owens Benware, the widow of John Benware/Benoir. Anton Barton adopted the two children which had been born to Mary & John Benware/Benior: Ernest and Leo. These two sons then took the Barton surname and their former uncle then became their dad!
The photo below is believed to be John Benware. It came from his sister's Bible and some photos were out of place, but this one seemed to fit where her brother John was labeled and it was the right era.
