Courier (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 05/16/1912 Murphy, Jerry (? -
30 Apr 1879) A man by the name
of Jerry Murphy was fatally injured in a row at Funk's saloon, in
the town of Hixon, Clark County, Wis. last Wednesday evening, the
proprietor being the person at whose hands the injury was received.
From what we can learn it seems that the two quarreled over some
trifling affair, and Murphy knocked Funk down and kicked him in the
face, then he left the place wand was followed out by Funk, who
struck him with a sharp instrument in the forehead just below the
hair, cutting through the skull and into the brain. Murphy has
since died, and Funk is in jail awaiting his trial. (Colby
