Schmidt, Barbara (23 Feb 1841 - 18 Dec 1912)

Mrs. Barbara Schmidt, beloved wife of our townsman John Schmidt, died at the home of her son Charley, in the town of Withee, Clark County, Wis., on Wednesday morning of last week, after an illness extending over a period of nearly three months. Mrs. Schmidt was born Feb. 23, 1841 in Echartsweller, Baden, Germany, where she was united in marriage to John Sauer on July 6, 1865. They immigrated to this country soon after, Mr. Sauer being accidentally killed in New York some eyars later. On Oct. 11, 1879, she was united in marriage to John Schmidt at Stevens Point, and five eyars later came to this village, where she has since resided. She was a good woman, neighbor and friend, and her death is regretted by all. Besides her husband she leaves four children, John Sauer and F. C. Sauer and George Schmidt and Charley Schmidt, who have the sympathy of all in their bereavement. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon from the M. E. Church, Rev. B. H. Schrein of Chippewa Falls conducting the services. Interment took place in the Thorp Village Cemetery.
