Courier (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 04/12/1917 Rossman, Frederick
(11 Dec 1842 - 6 Apr 1917) Frederick Rossman
was born in Schlesburg-Holstein, Germany, Dec. 11, 1842. At the age
of seven he, with his parents, came to America, making New
Holstein, Wis. they home. On Sept. 5, 1864 he enlisted into the
service of his country, enlisting from Calumet Co. at Camp Randall
near Madison, Wis., as a private of Co. H., later D, ninth regiment
of Wisconsin volunteer infantry. After returning to his home he was
united in holy wedlock to Miss Christina Weihler on Jan. 9, 1867,
the golden wedding having been duly observed last January. To this
happy union ten children were born, five sons and five daughters,
all of whom survive the father except one son who died in infancy.
They resided for some years near Loyal, Clark County, Wis., later

several years, being a sufferer of paralysis. He failed very
rapidly during the past few months until relieved by death on April
6, 1917, attaining the age of 74 years, 3 months and 26 days. He
leaves to mourn his death the bereaved widow, four sons and five
daughters, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Al the
children were present but two daughters, Mrs. Irvin Black of
Tacoma, Wash. and Mrs. Albert Quast of Ambrose, N.D. The funeral
services which were conducted from the house last Monday afternoon,
were very largely attended, Rev. A. L. Sherry of Colby
