invaded the home of J. D. Elmendorf last week and claimed the wife
and mother of that household. A son aged ten years, died about two
weeks ago, and the constant vigil of the mother at his bedside, in
conjunction with heart trouble, caused a sudden collapse on
Thursday evening last, ending a short time later in death. Eliza
Jane Alger was born at Rushford, Wis., on April 3, 1871, and died
Feb. 21, 1918. She came to Thorp, Clark County, Wis. with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Alger, at the age of seventeen and
was united in marriage to J. D. Elmendorf on Oct. 4, 1889. She
leaves to mourn, her devoted husband and four children, Mrs. Frank
Schultze of Cobban, Wis., and three sons, Bernard, Harold and
Cletus, her aged mother, Mrs. John Alger, and one brother, George
Alger. The funeral took place from the residence on Sunday
afternoon last, Rev. Bachman conducting the services, interment
