Miller, Claude (28 JUL 1886 - 7 OCT 1918)

Claude Miller was born at Hayton, Calumet Co., Wis., July 28, 1886. He came to Thorp, Clark County, Wis. with his parents in 1887 and made his home here ever since, until July 25, 1918, when he was drafted for service in the army. He was at Camp Grant, Rockford, Ill., until Sept. 27th, and transferred from there to Camp Hancock, Augusta, Ga. On his arrival at that place he was taken to the hospital at once, as he was sick with Spanish influenza, afterwards developing into pneumonia. He died Oct. 7, 1918. His age was 32 years, 2 months and 9 days.

He leaves four brothers, John of Sigourney, Iowa, Hans and Henry of Stanley and Carl of Thorp; also three sisters, Mrs. Mary Peterson of the town of Worden, Emma and Clara of Thorp.

The funeral took place on Monday, Oct. 14th from the house to the M. E. Church and then to Worden Cemetery, Rev. Laabs officiating.

Sergeant Ralph E. Thorne of 17th Co. M. T. D., M. G. T. S., of which Company deceased was also a member, accompanied the remains here, arriving Sunday morning.
