Curtiss, Wisconsin, September 26, 1904 – Protecting herself from the furious
attack of her drunk and maddened husband, Mrs. Fred Hensel, living two miles
from here, is said to have fired a shot that ended her husband’s life.
He had been to town, and returning in an intoxicated condition, attempted to
beat his wife and little ones. When the woman tried to pacify his, he became
angry, and brandishing a large knife, threatened to kill her. Seizing a rifle,
Mrs. Hensel, it is said, fired point blank at her husband and killed him
instantly.
