Courier (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 04/01/1920 Mead, Mary (5 JUL
1844 - 25 Mar 1920) Died, at her home
in this village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.), Mrs. William Mead. To her the
struggle and burden bearing of earth are ended, and we confidently
trust that like one who awakes from a trouble dream she has
awakened to see life's endless morning break and knows herself at
home with all the vast throng of loved ones, missed from earth,
safe about her home instincts were strong her in this fevered world
of disappointment. Her affection for friends and kindred was tender
and abiding. Mary Madigan was
born at Winchester, Canada, on July 5, 1844. At the age of sixteen
she moved to New York State with her parents, and on Jan. 2, 1865,
was united in marriage to Wm. Mead at Watertown, N.Y. They moved to
Clark County, Wis. in Sept. 1869, locating on a homestead a short
distance north of Greenwood, Clark County. This was their home
until 1914, when they sold the farm and moved to Withee and in 1919
came to Thorp. Deceased leaves
her aged husband and four children, Fred, whose address is unknown,
Byron of Wenatchee, Wash., Hixon M. and Mrs. H. C. Tiedemann of
Thorp. Her death occurred on Thursday, March 25, 1920. The funeral
took place from the home on Saturday afternoon last, Rev. George H.
Crow officiating, interment following in the Thorp Village
Cemetery. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
