Gail J. Niznik 1951-2002

Gail Jean Niznik, 51, Lublin, died on July 22 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in the town of Taft, Taylor County.

Gail was born on May 28, 1951, in Chippewa County to William and Winifred (Wisniewski) Niznik. She attended grade school in the Lublin area and high school in Gilman and Thorp.

On January 18, 1968, Gail and Robert Shufelt were united in marriage in Hannibal. They were later divorced.

Gail was a homemaker, caring for her two daughters, and also worked as a floral designer. She was a talented seamstress and gardener who greatly enjoyed flowers, sewing and crafts. She currently was the manager of the Lublin Nutrition Site.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Michelle (Wade Latz) Shufelt of Bloomer and Rhona (Brad) Johnson of Gilman; her sisters, Faye (Richard Cwikla) Niznik of Withee, Jane (Mike) Smelser of Whitehouse, Texas, Rita (Richard) Hughes of Thorp, Lori (Randy) Quelle of Withee, Susan (Tim) Zach of Jump River, Rose (fiancée Brian Dircks) of Stanley; her brothers, William (Pam Ewer) Niznik, Jr., of Lublin and John (Patti) Niznik of Milladore; her parents, William and Winifred Niznik of Lublin; her grandchildren, Hope and Nick Bonander and Hannah and Brady Johnson; and special friend Perry Coulliard of Lublin.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Niznik, on December 4, 1982 and her previous husband, Robert Shufelt.

Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. at the Thorp Funeral Home. Pastor William Stewart will officiate and burial will follow in the Holy Trinity Ukranian Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 9 a.m. to the time of services.
