Vernon Madison

Vernon Lance Madison, age 88, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2003, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Gilman where he resided for the past 85 years.

Vernon was born September 5, 1914, in the Town of Cleveland, in Taylor County, the son of Lance and Violet (Harp) Madison. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at the Hannibal School. Vernon was united in marriage on June 22, 1937, to Lucille M. Everson, who preceded him in death on June 26, 1995.

Vernon was an avid fisherman and loved his garden. He was employed at Medford creamery in Medford for 17 years, and continued to farm, retiring in 1980.

Survivors include one son: Wayne (Pat) Madison and a daughter Jean (Ray) Hendricks, all from Gilman, WI; one sister, Virginia Gingras of Cornell; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, one very special niece, Diane (Roy) Rooks of Fenton, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Lucille.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 17, 2003, at the Plombon Funeral Chapel in Gilman, WI at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Leschensky officiating. Grandchildren and great grandchildren served as pallbearers. Burial followed the service at the Hannibal Cemetery. Friends called Sunday evening, March 16, 2003 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel in Gilman, WI.
