Shupe, Margaret (15 Apr 1908 - 11 JUN 2003)

Margaret Shupe, 95, Waupaca, formerly of Spencer, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Bethany Home, Waupaca. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., on Monday, June 16, at United Methodist Church, Spencer. The Rev. Lois Takata officiated. Burial was in the West Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandchildren Sheri Day, Debra Pire, Laurie Jensen, David Shupe, Mark Shupe and Dean Shupe.

Margaret Niman was born on April 15, 1908, in Valley City, N.D., to Lige and Louise (nee Marks) Niman. She moved with her family to Greenwood in 1912 and attended Eaton Center School. She graduated from Proctor High School in Minnesota. She attended Superior State College and received her degree at Stevens Point College. She began her teaching career at Eaton Center School, then moved to Shady Lane School. She then moved on to the Spencer Public Schools, and retired in 1975. She married Glen Shupe on Aug. 21, 1930, in Neillsville. She was a longtime member of the Spencer United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley (Gilbert) Waldhart, Waupaca; one son, Bruce (Wanda) Shupe, Marshfield; one daughter-in-law, Georgia Shupe, Medford; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Glen, in 1984; one son, Bill, in 2000; and one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, in 1992.

Community Funeral Home, Spencer, assisted the family with arrangements.
