Volovsek, age 85, of Waukesha died April 2, 2003, at Kindred
Hospital in Greenfield. A memorial service
will be held at a later date. The Gesche Funeral
Home of Neillsville is assisting the family with arrangements. Joseph was born on
Nov. 9, 1917, in Menomonee Falls to Frank and Anna (Flis) Volovsek.
He was united in marriage to Ida Ockerl on April 11, 1942. He owned a sawmill
and worked as a logger in the Willard, Clark County, Wis. area. He
also lived in Flagstaff, Ariz., Soap Lake, Wash., Riverside and
Fontana, Calif. He held many jobs including logging in the Grand
Canyon and Hawaii, security officer, sold Christmas trees and he
especially loved to work with wood. Survivors include
sons David (Mary Ellen) Volovsek of Greenwood and Kenneth (Shari)
Volovsek of Challis, Idaho; daughters Judith Volovsek of
Germantown, Kathleen (Thomas) Gall of Waukesha, and Susan (Phil)
Thierman of Fairbanks, Alaska; 14 grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren; brothers, Stanley, Al, Anton and John Volovsek
