Hutchins, Lydia M. (15 Dec 1846 - 16 Jan 1905)

Died at her home in this city (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.), Mrs. Lydia M. Hutchins, wife of W. W. Hutchins, Jan 16, 1905. Mrs. Hutchins was the daughter of the late Wm. Darton of the town of Beaver, Clark County.

The subject of this sketch was born in Hartford, Washington Co., Wis., Dec. 15, 1846, came to Clark County in 1871, and was married to W. W. Hutchins Nov. 8th the same year. Mr. Hutchins had secured a place for a home and with his young wife moved upon it the following March. Out of this untamed forest they carved a home where they lived until 1893, when they moved to a more pretentious and comfortable home in this village. Mrs. Hutchins joined the M. E. Church Sept. 14, 1879, of which she remained a member until her death.

Soon after moving to Loyal she joined the W. R. C., of which she was an active member, holding nearly every office from president down, and refused again to take an office at the time of the last election.

The deceased has been a great sufferer for a few years past, which finally culminated in paralysis. While visiting friends in Mich. last August, rallying from this her robust constitution, while sustaining life, resulted in more prolonged suffering, until weary worn out nature surrendered to repeated shocks. Mrs. Hutchins was the mother of three sons now grown to manhood and married, M. W., E. F., and J. L., the latter of Chicago; besides these and husband, who does not yet imagine his loss, she leaves five brothers and two sisters to mourn as only those do whose loss is irreparable.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church here conducted by Rev. J. A. Hill, and a service by the W. R. C.. The burial took place in the Greenwood, Clark County Cemetery where with her father, mother and other relatives, she awaits the great Resurrection.
