Stowe, Chester G. (13 JUN 1852 - 20 Augl 1905)

Chester G. Stowe, one of the oldest residents in the town of Loyal, Clark County, Wis., passed away at his home west of Loyal, a part of his father's homestead, Sunday afternoon, Aug. 20, 1905, of typhoid fever.

Deceased was born at Hartford, Washington Co., June 13, 1852. His mother died at Hartford when he was but 7 years of age. He moved with his father to Loyal, Clark County when but a little boy. On Dec. 23, 1875 he was married to Miss Rhoda Roscoe. Four children were born to them, three sons, Hugh and Eddie of California and Loomis and one daughter, Iva Dell, of this place. Louis died when only ten months of age.

Mr. Stowe was an energetic farmer, a successful thresher and at one time partner with E. D. Murphy in the flourmill and grain elevator of Loyal. He was a man with many friends and very popular with his fellow townsmen, holding office of town assessor for many years. He was an active member of the Modern Woodman Lodge in this city and has held the highest office in the camp for several terms.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The relatives have the sympathy of the entire community, who will join with them in their sorrow and bereavement.

The funeral was held at the house today with Rev. C. J. Herrmann of Antigo officiating, and burial was under the auspices of the Loyal Camp, No 1414, M.W.A. Interment was made in the Loyal Cemetery.
