Allen, Sarah A.(28 JUL 1843 - 8 NOV 1906)
Mrs. Sarah A. Allen, wife of L. Allen, died on Thursday, Nov. 8, 1906 at her home in Wilbur, Wash., of diabetes, at the age of sixty-three years, three months and eleven days.
In March 1866 they moved from Iron Ridge, Dodge Co., to Clark County, Wis., settling on a homestead of 160 acres three miles southwest of this village. On this farm they lived for thirty-five years. In 1901 they went to Washington, settling on a farm of 320 acres in Lincoln Co. In the autumn of 1903 she went to Springfield, Ill., to a hospital and was treated by a specialist. After an absence of thirteen months she returned, being pronounce cured, but alas how untrue. In less than a year after her return the dread disease made its appearance and in spite of all that could be done by medical skill she finally succumbed to the disease. Five of the children, Arthur, Guy, Warren, Laura and Nelley were present when the passed to the other side. Thus passed away a true and loving companion and a kind and affectionate mother; dying in the glorious hope of endless life beyond.
She will no doubt be remembered by a great many in this vicinity who will be surprised to learn of her death and sincerely mourn her loss.
