Rene Brown was in town during the first of the week preparatory to making his home in the timber for the winter.

Out of respect for the late Joel Head, who was one of the district officers, the school was closed on Thursday and Friday.

F. C. Hartford, of Loyal, has established a tri-weekly stage line between that place and Spencer, on the Wisconsin Central Railway.

Dr. Gage, of Sparta, was in town last Thursday, having been called to consult with Dr. Crandall in treating Mr. Joel Head. He arrived a few hours before death kindly released his patient from sufferings, for which there was no earthly help.
