Mr. H. Parker, proprietor of the stave factory three miles west of town, is dangerously sick with pleurisy. Dr. Crandall hopes to bring him out safe before long.

If the H stands
for Hezekiah, Dr Crandall was successful as Hez died in 1904. Can I
assume that "town" is Neillsville?
