Pace doesn't believe in the Depression. In his pharmacy he is installing a soda fountain and equipment that represents what is probably the largest building investment on the street in recent months. The soda fountain is of massive Tennessee marble construction and is the last word in that sort of equipment. It is equipped with electrical or mechanical refrigeration and cooling. There are even mechanically cooled compartments for the glasses and spoons and the whole design of construction is to secure perfect sanitation and cleanliness. Mr. Pace has had experience with soda fountains before coming to Stanley and he assures us that he will give Stanley something in soda fountain service that they have not known before. - - - - - 60 Years Ago 23 Oct. 1942 The War production Board ordered the production of whiskey stopped on Oct. 8 so that all alcohol May be devoted to war uses. production was reduced 50 percent last February.
