We hear of a few tramps in this vicinity, but they are not numerous enough to cause any alarm.

Harry Ferguson has a field of corn near this place which averages twelve and a half feet in height.

O. L. Sprague, who had a severe attack of typhoid fever recently, is just returning to himself again.

Andrew Peterson’s little son, born a few days before his mother’s death, last week, has already followed her to the grave.

Henry Mahar is giving his house a thorough overhauling and adding an addition thereto. He has one of the nicest locations in town.

The Unity school is the special pride of the people of that lively town on the Central R. R., and we are informed that Mr. Geo. F. Wells, a teacher who has done very much to build up the school has been re-elected principal for another year. Miss Eva Hugaboom, of Dorchester, is employed for the primary department at Unity. She has an excellent reputation.

Johnny Stannard has returned from New York where he has been the past year, to take charge of J. L. Gates’s store in order that the latter may devote his time to the banking business. Johnny looks fresh and happy and seems to be nearly as glad of his return as the balance of us. Mr. H. D. Eyerly, who has been in the store for some time past, will now go to looking after his saw mills, of which he has two.

Mr. N. A. Batchellor, of Black River Falls, was in town on Wednesday looking over the chances for opening a furniture store here. We do not know much about the furniture business, but we do know Batch to be the stirring kind of a young man who will make things win wherever he is. He is contemplating renting the Eyerly building , and if he concludes to come we shall see a nice furniture store.
