The Merrillan Leader reports the accidental death by shooting last week, of Henry Purnell, one of the brightest young men of that place. In stepping over a log while hunting, the hammer of the gun came in contact with the log, discharging the gun and blowing the top of his head off. He was alone when the accident occurred, and the body was not found until the next day.
