Milwaukee dispatches to the Madison Journal on Thursday of last week state that the contract has been let for the construction of the Wisconsin & Minnesota R. R. from Colby to Chippewa Falls, a distance of sixty-four miles, the road to be in running order by October.

George Begley, of Greenwood, lost a valuable horse the first of the week. It had been used in a team in bringing a load of men returning from the woods, to this place, and died on the road home, and, it is thought, from the effects of having been driven too fast.
