Died Hewett - At her home in Neillsville, Mrs. Mary Ann Hewett, wife of Shelden B. Hewett, Sr., aged 70 years.

Mrs. Hewett, whose maiden name was Mary Ann Linkfield, was born March 22, 1810. She was married July 27, 1817, and resided with her husband in Essex Co. N. Y., until 1867, when they removed to this place, where they have lived since. She was the mother of eight children, six of whom are living and residents of this county, viz: James, and S. B. Hewett, Jr., Mrs. D. Gates, Mrs. Sam Miner, Mrs. F. Downer, and Mrs. Ira Fleur. They were all present during her last sickness and in her death mourned the loss of a true mother from whom they have inherited largely the energy and uprightness of character that distinguishes them. Her’s was a busy life, whose path in great part lay over the rugged steeps of self-sacrifice, and heroically she pursued it to its tranquil end, living for others until the last, though leisure and ease in her declining years were the offer and wish of her grateful family.
