The New Man

F. W. Whitcomb succeeded W. U. Wright as station agent at this place the first of the week. Mr. Whitcomb is not unknown to the people of Clark county, generally, having been the agent at Humbird from the time that point became a railroad station until the first of last May when he was assigned to duty on the North Wisconsin. Mr. Whitcomb, or Fred, as he is generally known to the people of this place, is too well known here to require an introduction at our hands, and it is unanimously conceded that his assignment to duty at this place was a righteous act, and one, with all, for which the business men of this place as far as they were given the opportunity so to do, petitioned, and in the appointment, all who have business to transact at this station are to be congratulated, for he is certainly the "boss" fellow to look after the interests of what we consider the "boss" station in the universe, all things considered. In the change, aside from securing a man in every way suited, competent and agreeable, to look after our railroad interests, we have in Mr. Whitcomb, and his estimable wife (who is even better known to this community than the subject of this notice) a valuable acquisition to society, and taken throughout nothing has transpired since Neillsville became a railroad town that has been the cause of more general satisfaction that the appointment of our new "agent," and that he May stick to Neillsville and her interests as he stuck to the interests of Humbird and Clark county, is the only wish, and one that we have no doubt will be fully realized.
