Johnson, Clarence T. (3 December 1911 – 26 November 1980)
A Neillsville resident for the past five years, Clarence T. Johnson, 68, passed
away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on Wednesday, November 26.
The deceased was born in Bloomington, Illinois, on December 3, 1911, to Oscar
and Selma (Carlson) Johnson. He attended schools in Bloomington and Chicago and
then worked all his life in the Chicago area. During that time he married Eva
Wulff in May 4, 1940, Davenport, Iowa, ceremonies. The couple moved to
Neillsville five years ago and made his residence at 307 Hill Street.
Surviving him besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. James (Linda) Popkes of
Modesto, California, and Mrs. James (Amy) Martin of St. Louis Park, Minnesota;
one sister, Mrs. Gunar (Olga) Thorberg, Elmhorst, Illinois; and one brother,
Elmer O. Johnson, also of Elmhorst. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Emery.
Funeral services were held on Saturday early afternoon, November 29, for
Johnson. The Rev. Paul Forde officiated, with Karen Forde offering special music
for the service. Burial made in the Neillsville City Cemetery with Calvin Mills,
Chester Turville, Sam Ray, John Rychnovsky, Ed Greeler and Kenneth Olson serving
as pallbearers. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Attending the services from out-of-town were Gunnar and Olga Thorberg, Elmhurst,
Illinois; Sharon and Allan Sweglo & children, Lombard, Illinois; Amy and Jim
Martin & children, St. Louis Park, Minnesota; and Linda and Jim Popkes, Modesto
California.
