Doyle, M. F. (17 MAR 1857 - 4 OCT 1911)

In the death of M. F. Doyle, who died on Wednesday morning, Oct. 4, 1911, at eight o'clock, we lose an energetic man, both mentally and physically.

The deceased was born in Fox Lake, Wis. on March 17, 1857, and moved to New Lisbon with his parents on a farm and lived with them until he was sixteen years of age, when he worked on the log drive. In 1880 he accepted a position of superintendent on the Bradford & Son Lumber Co. in its logging operations, and was employed by them until they closed their business, after which he took a contract for clearing up land on the Wisconsin river near Tomahawk, and one year later he moved to Minocqua. He was married to Miss Nell Conghlin at Necedah in 1885.

From Tomahawk he went to Minocqua and went into the real estate and livery business for seven years, and then formed a partnership with James McGonigal in the hardware business and also purchased pinelands. Eight years ago they came to this village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.), and purchased the hardware business of E. D. Murphy. When Citizens State Bank was organized about two years ago he was elected president and re-elected a year after.

He was a man who united sound sense with strong convictions, and had a candid, outspoken temper. How much this community owes him and such as he, it is impossible to estimate, though it would be a grateful task to trace his influence through some of the more direct channels. He had borne adversity bravely and enjoyed prosperity quietly.

The funeral services were held at the Catholic Church on Friday morning at nine o'clock and the remains taken to Necedah on Saturday morning for burial, by the side of relatives.
