Adams, Mr./Mrs. S. A. (Gold Anniv - 17 NOV 1911)

On Friday, Nov. 17, 1911, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Adams celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their home in the town of York, Clark County, Wis.

Fifty-four relatives and friends partook of the bounteous dinner, but owing to the stormy weather and to sickness only half of the number invited were able to attend.

The rooms were beautifully decorated with red and gold and evergreens, while from the ceiling of the dining room and sitting room hung large red bells. A beautiful bouquet of red and yellow roses, which were sent by a friend in Oregon for this occasion, arrived the following day. Mrs. Albert Turner presented them with a beautiful wedding cake.

Mr. and Mrs. Adams were the recipients of a beautiful eighty-four piece china dinner set in white and gold, three gold lined berry spoons, three set gold plated sugar shells and butter knives, gold plated salad fork, gold plated cold meat fork, gold cuff buttons, a pair of hand embroidered towels, three deep dishes, two gold wedding booklets and each one a fine pair of mittens. They also received thirty-two and one-half dollars.

Mr. and Mrs. Adams are old residents of the town of York, having moved there from Sheboygan Co. nearly thirty-four years ago.

Those who attended from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Diedrick, old neighbors from Sheboygan Co., W. D. Adams, a brother and Mrs. E. M. Rogers, a sister of Mr. Adams, both residing at Menominee, Mrs. A. A. Damon and Mrs. Frank Heath of Spencer, both of whom are nieces of Mrs. Adams. Mrs. Adams' mother, who lives at Menominee, could not attend on account of the cold weather and long ride. Although she is in her ninety-fifth years she is real well and quite strong. Sickness prevented Mrs. Adams' sister from attending.

Mr. and Mrs. Adams wish to express their heartiest thanks to not only those who so generously contributed the wedding gifts, but also to those who so willingly rendered their services for the occasion.
