Domine, John (25 DEC 1848 - 30 Apr 1913)

John Domine, an old resident here for a number of years, died on Wednesday, April 30, 1913, at the home of his son Edward in the town of Loyal, of cancer of the liver at the age of sixty-four years.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1848, in Germany and came to this country with his parents about fifty years ago, who settled near Jefferson, Wis. and thirty years ago came to Clark County, Wis. and purchased a wild eighty acres now owned by Martin Dagenhardt in the town of Loyal, which he owned until about fourteen years. He then purchased the Domonie farm, which he owned for five years, when he went to Medford.

He was taken sick at Medford last January and was taken to the hospital at Eau Claire about three weeks ago. The medical staff pronounced his disease cancer of liver and refused to perform an operation, saying there was no hope for him. He was brought back here and taken to the home of his son Edward, where he was given the best care until he died.

He was a man of generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of the pioneer. The stranger never failed to find food and shelter if he sought it at his hands.

The funeral services were held at the Catholic Church on Saturday at half past nine and the remains buried in the Catholic Cemetery.
