Pinkerton, Margaret (Marriage - 11 JUN 1912)

The following was taken from the evening Wisconsin:

"The marriage of Mrs. Margaret A. Pinkerton of Waupaca, Wis., to G. W. Allen of Loyal, Clark County, Wis., took place in Milwaukee on June 11, 1912, Rev. Webster Millar, pastor of Kingsley M. E. Church, officiating."

We are informed that they intend to make this village their home. We wish them long life and bespeak for them much happiness. We rejoice that they will reside here and cast their leavening influence for good in our community.

Mrs. Margaret Pinkerton, who is so well and favorably known here, guarded well her secret from her friends, that she had any matrimonial intentions. Perhaps no one knew that she had gone to Milwaukee with Mr. G. W. Allen to be married until word was received from there.

Mr. Allen and Mrs. Pinkerton were happily married by Rev. Webster Millar Tuesday, June 11th, at Milwaukee. Mr. Allen is quite well known here, having spent several summers at his cottage on Columbian Lake. He has large lumber interests in the South and fruit and alfalfa ranches at Roswell, N.M.

We did not know it was possible to keep a marriage a secret, so secret, before. The Leader extends hearty congratulations for much happiness.

Later -- The newly married couple were as much surprised Monday night, as were their friends last week. At about 9 o'clock a party of friends autoed out to their cottage at Columbian Park with bells and horns and "jack-o-lantern" and aroused the retired couple with melodies, which could not be duplicated. After the informal reception and congratulations a midnight supper was served, fit for the occasion. A fine souvenir was presented to the visiting ladies by the bride.

Those in the party were: Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Olfson, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Evans, Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Bristow, Miss Marie Chamberlin, Ward Olfson, and Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Krake. (Waupaca Leader)
