Obituary of Mrs. Henry Goettsch, 72

Mrs. Henry Goettsch, the former Esther Ann Cronin, was born October 4, 1896 at Wabasha, Minnesota, the daughter of Patrick Henry and Anna (Hillman) Cronin.

In 1898 she came with her parents, a sister and two brothers to Greenwood, Wisconsin. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and she received her education in the Elementary and High Schools of Greenwood.

She entered Nurses training in St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield and later took post graduate courses at Wauwatosa and Milwaukee. She practiced as a registered nurse in Waco, Texas and San Francisco, California before going to Detroit, Mich.

On November 26, 1932 she was united in marriage to Henry Fred Goettsch of Detroit, at South Bend, Ind. In 1933 they purchased a farm northwest of Greenwood and farmed there until 1957 when they moved to the City of Greenwood.

Mr. Goettsch passed away on January 3, 1968. Mrs. Goettsch entered St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield on March 16th and passed away there on Sunday, March 23, having reached the age of 72 years and 5 months.

Survivors include two brothers, Floyd Cronin, Rockford, Ill; James Cronin, of Merrill; four sisters, Mrs. Owen (Margaret) Williams, Glendive, Mont.; Mrs. Gertrude McCann, Mrs. Phillip (Anna) Vollrath, and Mrs. Martin (Dolly) Zickert, all of Greenwood.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary and three brothers; Jay, William and Arthur.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 26 at 2:00 at the Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. LeRoy Urman of the Trinity Lutheran church officiating. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were; Edward Gregorich, Lex Dusso, James Metzke, George Stark, Bernard Novobielski and Arno Decker.

Edward Bizjak sang two selections; "Abide With Me" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". He was accompanied on the organ by Bonnie Lenz.

Those from out of town who attended the services were; Mrs. Owen Williams, Glendive, Montana; Mr. and Mrs. James Conin, Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Vollrath, Jr., Owen; and many friends from the neiboring towns.
