(Clute, Ford, Walters) Obituary of Vernon J. Clute
Vernon J. Clute, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dow Clute, ws born at Mauston, Wisconsin, May 9, 1868 and passed away at his home in the Town of Mead, Clark County, Wisconsin, Tuesday, February 23, 1937 at 1:30 p.m., at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 14 days. His wife preceded him in death 34 years ago.
Mr. Clute was a member of the Masonic and Eastern Star lodges of this city. He was the first Worthy Patron of the Greenwood Eastern Star Chapter.
He leaves to mourn his loss, two sons, whose whereabouts are not known at this time; three brothers, C.H. Clute, Greenwood, Charles H. Clute, Sanford, Florida; H.D. Clute, Rocky Ford, Colorado, and one sister, Mrs. M.J. Walters, Janesville, Wis.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, Friday afternoon with Rev. C. R Gaylord officiating. The Masonic rites followed the pastors words and internment was in the Greenwood cemetery. The services at the cemetery were also in charge of the Masons.
The pallbearers were Harold Stabnow, C.C. Hoehne, Chas. Vrney, Dr. R. E. McIntyre, I.W. Stafford and O.J. Amundson.
