The Peal of Christmas Bells By: Elsie Abel

Again we hear the peal of Christmas bells Over all the great wide world In homeland, abroad, the glad "Noel" As the story of Jesus birth's unfurled.

While shepherds wathced their flocks by night So many, many years ago, And because they saw that wonderous light That's now, we, came to know.

That Christ was born at Bethlehem There in a lowly cattle shed And that shepherds went to worship Him In His humble manger bed.

And how they heard the Angels singing Proclaiming our Saviour's birth How "Glad tidings", they were bringing Of "Good-will" and "Peace on Earth".

How from distant lands the wisemen came And their promised "Massiah" sought, When found, too knelt to worship Him Displayed their precious gifts they brought.

In faith we too, go to Bethlehem Led by the bright star from above And of "Jesus birth" received a volume Bound in God's own shining love.

Thats why Christmas bells are ringing O're villages and country side, Thats why Christmas carols we're singing To spread good-Tidings far and wide.

And if Christmas lives in hearts of men As expressed in our Saviour's birth Then we shall see at Bethlehem A glimpse of "Heaven" here on earth."
