Visger, Martin (16 APR 1833 - 13 Augl 1914)
Last Thursday Aug. 13, 1914, death claimed another well known pioneer. The citizen by name was Martin V. Visger, who died at the home of Mrs. H. W. Visger at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 28 days. He was a man of generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of the pioneer.
Martin V. Visgar was born in Orleans, Jefferson Co., N.Y., on April 16, 1833. He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Jane Sage at Watertown, Wis., Dec. 25, 1856. In the year of 1876 he moved to Clark County, Wis. and has since been a citizen of our community. His wife died last Jan. 26th. In 1906 they together celebrated their golden wedding which few people ever celebrate.
He leaves to mourn his death one son, Herbert Visger of Sanger, Cal., and one sister, Mrs. Martha Shephard of Beaver Dam, Wis., and Mrs. H. W. Visger, his daughter-in-law, who has taken care of him for many years.
The funeral was held last Saturday afternoon from the M. E. Church, Rev. Thomas Harris officiating.
