McKenzie, Betty (20 May 1828 - 23 Sep 1914)
Mrs. Daniel McKenzie passed away at the home of her son James, in the town of Loyal, Clark County, Wis., last Wednesday morning, Sept. 23, 1914, at 5 o'clock. She reached the age of 86 years, 4 months and 3 days.
The deceased was born in Ireland May 20, 1828, and came to Canada with her parents when but a child. She was united in marriage to Daniel McKenzie in the year 1848, to which union were born twelve children, nine boys and three girls, of which ten survive her death. The surviving children are as follows: James and William McKenzie of Loyal, Mrs. Harry Hewett of Neillsville, Mrs. George Hewett, Samuel McKenzie, Alex McKenzie and Daniel of Milwaukee, David McKenzie of Seattle, Wash. Thomas McKenzie of Valley, Wash., and Mrs. Maggie McKann of Ontario, Canada.
She was a woman of generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of a pioneer. She had filled the various relations of life, as a daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend, and filled them well. Another name is stricken from ever lessening roll of old settlers and the numerous relatives and many friends are left to attest how sadly they will miss her.
The remains were laid to rest at the side of her husband last Saturday in the Loyal Cemetery, Revs. Hendren and Anderson officiating.
