Truax, Vernald (Apr 1914 - 17 OCT 1914)

The entire community was shocked early Sunday morning on hearing of the fire which cost the life of three children belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Truax, who reside two miles west of Spencer, Wis. The oldest was Lester, who was about three years of age, Francis, who was about two and the baby Vernald, who was about six months of age. The parents were at the barn milking when the fire started. It was not discovered until it was too late to save the children. The baby was taken from its buggy by the other window, but was suffocated. The other bodies were not removed until after the fire. The funerals were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Truax. The remains were laid to rest in the Spencer Cemetery. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community.
