Turner, Melvin (1850 - 25 Mar 1915)

Mr. Melvin Turner, an old pioneer of the town of York, Clark County, Wis., passed away at his home Thursday evening at 8:17 o'clock, death being due to a complication of diseases.

Deceased was born in the state of Maine in the year 1850. Came to Clark County, Wis., when a boy of 5 years of age and settled in Pine Valley. When 26 years of age he was united in marriage to Miss Augusta Radont April 25, 1876. They moved to the town of York in 1877, where they still reside. To this union three children were born, namely, Morris, Maude, now Mrs. Chancey Stevens, and Newel. Mr. Turner was a kind and indulgent husband and father and and a very good neighbor, and was liked by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife and family, son-in-law and grandson, Ross Stevens, nine brothers and two sisters. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the M. E. Church at York Center, interment taking place at the York Cemetery. The many friends of the bereaved family extend their sympathy. (North York Correspondent)
