died at his home in this village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.)
Friday, July 25, 1919, at the age of 71 years. He was very sick for
weeks in the spring but had recovered so as to be out and his death
came to many as a shock at this time. He was born in New
Jersey Oct. 16, 1847. On June 8, 1875 he was united in marriage to
Miss Sarah Vanderhoof, they coming tot he town of Sherman, Clark
County two years later, where they have since lived until last
fall, when they moved to Loyal. To this union three children were
born. He leaves to mourn his loss, besides his wife, two sons,
Harry of Minneapolis and Orley of Toronto, Canada, besides a
brother and sister in New Jersey. A daughter, Mary, preceded him in
death, dying in 1881. The deceased was a
kind husband and father and a good neighbor, always ready to lend a
helping hand in time of need, and his death is mourned by all who
knew him. He has been a faithful member of the M. E. Church for 40
years. The funeral
services were held at the Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday
afternoon, Rev. E. E. Strevey officiating. He was laid to rest in
the Cole Cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the
