Fifty-three year-old, Samuel Shaw Butters, from the village of Spencer, died yesterday morning in a local hospital, where he'd been taken for treatment last Friday after suffering an influenza attack which had lasted about 10 days.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Swarthout funeral home in Spencer. The Rev. Ellery Beal, pastor of the Methodist church in Marshfield, will officiate and burial will be in the West Spencer cemetery beside the remains of Mr. Butter's parents.

He was born May 6, 1890, in the town of Spencer and died, January 4, 1944. He had made his home on a farm east of the village of Spencer his entire life, except for two years which he spent in Spencer. Surviving are three brothers and four sisters, Albert Butters, Council Bluff, Iowa, Edgar Butters, Pontiac, Mich., Harry Butters, Superior, Mrs. George Hansen, Spencer, Mrs. A. B. Wells and Mrs. Josephine Fimple, Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. George Cade, New Lisbon.
