Letter to the Editor - In the county farmer's trotting race for a purse of $60, D. Varnum's mare "Crippled Jim" 2nd and "William S" owned by C.H. Sheldon of Thorp, 3rd. (Neillsville Times) The above is a malicious libel. "William S" took second money. And the undersigned agree to match "Wm S" against any of the horses that took part in the above named race, for a purse of from $100 to $500 a side. One week's notice of the time and place of the race, to be given. (Signed) C.H. Sheldon, H.F. Sargent
