Rider, Lloyd N. (30 NOV 1922 - 28 Dec 2001)

Lloyd N. Rider, 79, Loyal, Clark County, Wis., formerly of Dyer, Ind., died on Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at his home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal. Barb Scott, N.A.C.C., officiated. Burial will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, Ind., on Thursday, Jan. 3, with a service to be conducted in the cemetery chapel at 11 a.m.

Lloyd Neil rider was born on Nov. 30, 1922, in Wilsal, Mont., to Ernest and Verna (nee Weakly) Rider. He moved to Grays Lake, Ill., as a young boy to live with his aunt after the death of his mother. He enlisted in the U. S. Army on Jan. 24, 1941, and served in Africa. After his honorable discharge on Aug. 14, 1943, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator and a truck driver for various employers. He married Willie Mae Wilson in 1944. They later divorced. He married Shirley Ann Schweitzer on Feb. 16, 1963, in Sauk Village, Ill. In 1976, he purchased his own simi truck and was an independent hauler until his retirement in 1984. After his retirement, he moved to Wild Rose and worked part-time as a cook for several restaurants. In 1988, he moved to Loyal to live near his daughter, Cindy, and resided there until the time of his death. His interests included his family and grandchildren, fishing, cooking, painting, viewing the countryside as he traveled, and the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Akstilewicz, Neenah, and Cindy (Jeff) Schuster, Loyal; one son, Dan (Kay) Rider, Shiocton; six grandsons, Kurt (Roxanne) Akstilewicz, Keith Akstilewicz, Lane and Jacob Rider, and Shawn and Josh Anderson; one granddaughter, Stacey (Todd) Klingamen; seven great-grandchildren, Stephanie Bultman, Kiale Eliss, Jessica, Jennifer, Jacqueline and Justine Klingamen, and Nicholas Leon Akstilewicz; three sisters, Georgia Hollison, El Segundo, Calif., Esther Grey, Andulusa, ala., and Lynn (don) Noren, Zion, Ill.; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Shirley, on Oct. 11, 1984; two daughters, Barbara rider and Ruth Reinhardt; one son, Scott Rider; one granddaughter, Gail Reinhardt; three sisters, Ruby Holmquist, Evelyn Copeland and alma Rider; and two brothers, Glen Rider and Dale Rider.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
