Laager, Brenda (2 November 1976-18 July 1983)

Six-year-old Brenda Laager, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John (Diana Moss) Laager of Route 3, Thorp, who was pulled from the Eau Claire River Saturday, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Authorities said Brenda was walking in the river near the Rock Dam County Park, about five miles west of Willard when she stepped into an area where the rive bottom took a steep drop and she fell beneath the surface of the water.

She was taken to Neillsville Memorial Hospital after efforts were made to revive her at the scene, and she was later transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital.

Services will be Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Thorp. The Rev. Robert Olson will officiate. Burial will be in East Thorp Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Thorp Funeral Home.

She was born November 2, 1976 in Chippewa Falls, and was a student at Thorp Elementary School.

Survivors include her parents, a sister Julie Anna at home; her grandmother, Mrs. Clara Laager of Owen; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence (Ann) Moss of Thorp.
