PHONOGRAPH (Colby, Wis.) 03/08/1917 Lessard, Horace L.
(17 Feb 1887 - 2 Mar 1917) A telegram was
received by Gust Henkel Friday, March 2nd, 1917, from his daughter
of Minneapolis announcing the death of her husband Horace Laroux
Lessard, which occurred at 2:15 the same afternoon. Mr. Henkel took
the night train for Minneapolis, and accompanied the body back to
Colby, Wis., arriving here on the early morning train Tuesday. Mrs.
Lessard and her husband's sister, Mrs. Carl M. Normen of
Phillipsburg, Mont., arrived here Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Lessard had
recently returned from St. Louis and it was during the time he was
at that place that he contracted a cold, which turn into pneumonia
shortly after h returned to Minneapolis, being the second attack
since last November. After a struggle of four days, he succumbed to
the ravages of the dread disease. It was first
intended to have his remains shipped to Great Falls, Mont., where
other members of his family are buried, but Mrs. Lessard's desire
that he be buried here prevailed. He was married to Miss Ida Henkel
of this city in August 1916, and besides his wife he leaves to
mourn him a sister, Mrs. C. M. Normen, and a brother, Arthur
Lessard of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Those who were
acquainted with Mr. Lessard here will remember him as a very
pleasing and likeable gentleman. The whole community will deeply
sympathize with the young wife and the brother and sister. The funeral was
held from the Methodist Church yesterday afternoon, Rev. Harry C.
Hall officiating, and was quite well attended, considering the
weather. Burial was in Colby Cemetery. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
