(JAN1838 - 8 Mar 1917) Mrs. Carl Kobs
passed away at her home west of this village Thursday forenoon,
March 8, 1917, at 11 o'clock, at the age of 79 years and two
months. Dropsy caused her death. Tena Krause was
born in Germany in 1838. She lived with her parents and was married
to Carl Kobs in that country. In 1860 they immigrated to this
country, to Wausau, and settled on a farm in Fond du Lac County.
They were among the first settlers in that county. After nine years
of hard work they purchased a farm in Brillion town, where they
resided 37 years. They had nine children, seven of who survive. Mrs. Kobs was a
kind neighbor and an industrious and good-hearted wife. She is
survived by her husband, one brother, John Krause, and one sister
of Neno, four sons, Albert, Ernst, Carl and August; three
daughters, Mrs. Wm. Balke of Abbotsford, Mrs. Henry Gosse of
Curtiss, Clark County, Wis., and Mrs. Carl Riemer of the town of
Rantoul. The funeral took
place Monday afternoon from the Reformed Church at Potter, with
interment in the Lutheran cemetery west of this village (Hilbert
