(19 Feb 1834 - 11 Sep 1917) Mrs. Caroline
Radtke, who died at the home of her son Charles, in the town of
Colby, Clark County, Wis., Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1917, was born Feb.
19, 1834, in Schwetz, Germany, her maiden name being Caroline
Zabel. In 1853 she was united in marriage with Michael F. Radtke,
They came to America in 1868 and in 1880 came to Colby and settled
on a farm, and contributed their full share in the upbuilding of
this community. Mr. Radtke died Aug. 20, 1896. She leaves behind
her two sons, August of Abbotsford, and Charles of Colby, and one
daughter, Mrs. Fred Dins of this city. Besides these she is
survived by 17 grandchildren and 25 great- grandchildren. The funeral was
held from Zion's Lutheran Church last Friday afternoon, the
services being conducted by Rev. Hartenstein. Interment was made in
