PHONOGRAPH (Colby, Wis.) 01/30/1908 Sterzinger, George
(29 Augl 1844 - 26 Jan 1908) George Sterzinger
was born in Boppenlauer, Bavaria, Aug. 29, 1844; he came to America
in 1873, settling in Milwaukee Co. at North Greenfield, now West
Allis. Nov. 1, 1881, he came to Colby, Wis. and settled on the farm
in the town of Colby, Clark County, Wis., where he resided until
his death. He was a stone mason by trade and many of the residences
and barn foundations in Colby and surrounding towns remain as
monuments to his memory. He was a man of
generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of the
pioneer. He was of sturdy constitution and continued to be active
in his accustomed pursuits till long past the age at which men
ordinarily drop out of the ranks of the workers. To this end there
is no doubt that his sunshiny disposition largely contributed. He
met most of the conditions and situations of life with a joke, and
counted everyone he knew a friend. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
