PHONOGRAPH (Colby, Wis.) 11/28/1918 Stecker, Levi J.
(15 NOV 1894 - 28 OCT 1918) Once more it
becomes our sad duty to announce that another of Colby's favorite
sons made the supreme sacrifice for his country in western France.
A telegram from the war department was received by Mrs. Barbara
Stecker Monday morning revealing to her the news of the death of
her son, Levi, as follows: "Deeply regret to
inform you that it is officially announced that Private Levi J.
Stecker, Infantry, died of bronchial-pneumonia Oct. 28, 1918.
Harris, Adjutant General." Levi was born in
the town of Colby, Clark County, Wis. Nov. 15, 1894, and lived with
his parents on the farm until nine years ago. His father, Fred
Stecker, who was one of the prominent farmers of the township,
passed tot he Great Beyond in June 1906, and several years after,
the rest of the family moved into the city. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
