(26 Jan 1846 - 2 JUN 1919) Old friends and
neighbors in Colby, Wis. and the town of Hull, Marathon Co., were
grieved to hear of the death of Mrs. Amelia Graumann, which
occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alfred Smart, on Monday
June 2, 1919, after a lingering illness of two months of cancer of
the stomach, at the age of 73 years. Deceased was born
Jan. 26, 1846 in Bernd, Germany and in 1873 came to America,
settling in Chicago, where in the same year she was united in
marriage to Frederick Graumann. To this happy union was born four
children: Mrs. L. H. Hastings of Silina, Kansas; Mrs. Alfred Smart
and Mrs. Edward Rupert, both of the town of Hull, and Wm. Graumann,
residing on the old homestead six miles east of this city. Mrs. Graumann,
with her husband, living in the city of Chicago three years after
their marriage and then moved to Racine Co., where they resided
five years. From her they moved to this community thirty-eight
years ago and settled on the farm now operated by their son
William. About five years ago the deceased moved to this city where
she resided until a week before her death. Funeral services
were held Friday June 6th from Zion Lutheran Church, Rev.
