History: Eaton--House fire John Ballet (1882)

A residence in the town of Eaton belonging to John Ballet and occupied jointly by C. W. Newton a man named Wir, with their respective families, was destroyed by fire, together with is entire contents, the first of last week. Mr. Wir has just moved his family from near Chilton. The origin of the first is not definitely known, but its rapid spreading to every position of the building, thus preventing the saving of property, was owing to the explosion of an oil can to which the flames were communicated about the time the fire was discovered
