Sparks, Edgar W. (29 Apr 1900 - 4 Jul 1921)

Edgar William Sparks, so of Mrs. Eliza Sparks of Abbotsford, Wis., was born April 29, 1909 and passed to the Great Beyond on July 4, 1921, at the age of 21 years, 4 months and 5 days at the hospital in Antigo, Wis. during an operation for the amputation of his right leg, which was terribly mutilated in an accident at Rhinelander on July 2nd. His mother and only brother, Lieut. Calbert Sparks of Madison arrived at the hospital shortly after he had breathed his last.

The body was brought to Abbotsford on the following morning, where relatives and friends met to show their respect and appreciation for one of our boys who loved is mother and brother and left a message for them "Not to worry, and that everything was alright," and that he would meet them again.

The deceased was a member of Co. B of Abbotsford and was buried with military honors on Wednesday afternoon in the cemetery near Dorchester beside his father who passed from this life in 1907. Rev. Flemming, acting pastor of the Colby M. E. Church, conducted the services at the Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford at 2:30 o’clock, p.m., after a short service at the residence, from which he was borne by the loving hands of his comrades in his flower laden casket to the church.

The sympathy of the many friends and relatives is extended to the bereaved mother and brother.
