Dr. Crandall’s family left this city last Friday, and have been visiting friends at Black River Falls since that date. Dr. Crandall has devoted his time since that date in preparing their household effects for shipment, and will take his departure to-day for Pellican Rapids, Minn., the place selected for their new home, his family joining at Merrillan. In their departure, our city loses one of its best business men, and society a family that will be greatly missed. May prosperity attend them, is the universal wish of this community.

Miss Bell Ackerman, one of the former teachers in the Neillsvillle school, returned from a visit of several months duration with friends in Pierce county last week. Miss Ackerman will teach in the Tousley district the coming winter.

Stanley F. Chubb and fifty pounds of tobacco took a tumble from an elevated position in Hewett’s warehouse last Monday. The tobacco escaped with injury, but the bruises received by Mr. Chubb account for the dignified fait adopted by that gentlemen since that time.

One of the largest transfers of real estate recorded for some time was that effected by Geo. H. Ray, of this city, last week, the transaction being the sale of the Coburn lands on the Eau Claire river to the Eau Claire Lumber Company, the purchasing price having been upwards of $500,000.

Mrs. Wm. Philpott, of the town of Loyal, mention of whose injuries was made in these columns several weeks ago, is said to be improving rapidly, and fears of a fatal termination of the injuries sustained.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klopf returned from a business trip to Milwaukee and Chicago last Friday. While in Milwaukee Mr. Klopf purchased a granite monument to be place upon the grave of his soon Fred, who died last summer, paying $1.100 for the same.

Jas. A. Parkhurst was confined to his house several days the first of the week by sickness, but made his appearance on the streets again yesterday.
